Server settings for connection establishment

In case of problems during connection to the server of the material data manager the Proxy server settings should be checked. To do so, please, activate the button “Connection settings” in the login window. In the next window the name of the Proxy server and the corresponding Proxy port have to be entered. If necessary, ask your system administrator.

It may occur that your company or your internet provider wants you to use a Proxy server or offers you one. A Proxy acts as a mediator between your computer and the internet. A Proxy can respond to inquiries directed to it out of its own temporary memory. Proxies are used to increase the throughput, filter inquiries and hide your computer from the internet thus improving safety. Proxies are often an integrated part of a company’s firewall.

Direct connection to the MDM:

This is the standard setting. Please, use this setting, if you do not want to use a Proxy.

Automatically recognize Proxy settings for this network:
Select this option, if the material data manager is supposed to detect the Proxy settings of your network automatically. The settings of the system (Internet explorer settings) will be used.

Manual Proxy configuration:
Ask your system administrator for the names and the port numbers of the Proxy server and enter this information in the respective fields.
