About the Material Data Manager - MDM

The software solution Material Data Manager provides not only software but also device, component and system data as well as documents online to various user groups in the form of a web solution which can be accessed or downloaded.        

The following groups of users employ the software solution MDM:

•Component manufacturers enter their device, component and system data including technical descriptions, order and CAD data into the MDM system.

•Plant operators use the MDM to define material approval lists for their suppliers on the basis of the device, component and system data specified by the manufacturers.

•Suppliers who construct and deliver plants, machines etc. for the plant operators have to register in the MDM system. After successful registration in the MDM the suppliers are granted access to the device, component and system data itemized in the material approval list. Via separate MDM interface programs this data can be processed further in data processing systems (CAD systems).

Item lists can be written back from the CAD systems Eplan P8 and RUPLAN into the Material Data Management system.

Device, component and system data not itemized in the material approval list in the MDM are not allowed to be used by the suppliers.

The principle of central data storage in the Material Data Manager

The basic principle of the Material Data Manager that strictly governs all databases, functions, links and interfaces is the central storage of data for the avoidance of redundancies.

This principle of using one common data source for all users of the Material Data Manager offers the following benefits:

•almost unlimited additional information from attached documents (e.g. links, .jpg, .pdf)

•no „manual“ distribution of data and documents – no media discontinuity
