Link article with the MDM

By the menue "Utility programs - MDM - project article data" or by the MDM icon "Vescon MDM - project article data" the dialogue will start to link articles existing in the project with MDM data records (so-called mapping). On request, the contents of an MDM data record will be transferred to “Free attributes” of the EPLAN Electric P8-article.  The corresponding parts list form obtains its data from these fields. For this the following worksteps have to be carried out:

•Start the report by the menue "Utility programs - MDM - project article data" or by the MDM icon bar "Vescon MDM - project article data". The following mask opens up:

By the checkbox “Display used articles only” you can determine whether all project articles are supposed to be displayed or only those articles used in the maps.
 

•Initiate the automated search in the MDM for the data records corresponding to the displayed EPLAN Electric P8 articles via the button “Search MDM”. If the manufacturer number and the order number are identical, the line will be shown with a white background and the MDM device-ID is added..

During the comparison with the EPLAN manufacturer (as well with the manufacturers long- and shortname) it is checked, if  the MDM manufacturer (as well as the alternative spellings of manufacturers defined in the MDM) are identical to get a successful mapping result .

If on the basis of notations defined by the user no matching with the MDM manufacturer can be found, further notations of manufacturers can be added by the interface options (options / more / notations of manufacturers). This configuration will be saved locally and related to the user:
(C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Vescon\MDM\Mdm.WcfClient.Plugins.EplAddIn.2.Manufacturers.json).

•By the icon „Search MDM“ the content of linked devices and notations defined by the user can be refreshed.

•Existing links can be canceled via the icon „detach“.
Principially each EPLAN article can be mapped with a MDM article by hand. Please mark the row and click on the icon "Mapping", sign the record in the dialogue "Select device" and save the mapping by the icon "Select and save"

•Close the dialogue via the button "OK". At this moment the contents from the MDM will be added to the EPLAN Electric P8 articles. The entries are written into “Free attributes” of the EPLAN Electric P8 article. .
