New device

This task is used to request devices not existing in the MDM but needed for handling a project.

For this you have to fill in the request form as completely as possible, i.e. fill the device with all necessary data. Furthermore, the project(s) has (have) to be selected for which the device is needed. A remark stating the reason for a request, “Why, to what purpose etc.”, has always proved helpful to the person responsible for dealing with the request. A project (marked as "Request new device allowed") must be entered in which the new device is needed

If entries in the fields "manufacturer" and "order number" still exists are the highlighted in red an this request is not possible

A requested device is marked as “Temporary” (status). This device may already be used, even though there is still the risk that in case of rejection it will be deleted from the MDM.

The request goes first to VESCON for the quality check of the entries and the status of the task is marked as "waiting" for the structure element manager. If the quality of the data is OK VESCON marks the task as "done". Afterwards the structure element manager can edit the task; if he marks the task as "done", the devices changes the status to "active" and the device is approved in the concerning structure element.

As mentioned above, the requested device will be deleted from the MDM in case of rejection.

Attention: Temporary devices can not be changed into device groups! Device groups can not be requested!
