Excel Import

The Excel import allows to create new devices or to complete the data of existing devices. Only empty data fields can be used for this partial completion; overwriting or correcting existing data is not allowed. (Only manufacturers with special authorization can do so).

 

The use of the Excel import requires the rights of creating / editing individual devices and the respective fields.  Please, proceed as follows:

 

Import of new / complete data records

 

Fill in the file “Excel import template” (ribbon tab “File / Administration / Excel import / Save exemplary import file”).

Update table in Excel.

Import table in MDM (Ribbon / Open import file).
The data is sent to the server, checked there and the import resulting from this will be indicated on the client.
The data are not yet imported.

On the client, the table may still be changed.

After that, the data can be sent to the server again to get checked once more (Ribbon/check).

Finally, the data are stored on the MDM server (Ribbon/import).

 

Attention!

When importing data, the correct time / date format has to be selected. Standard default setting is the country format of the current user language.

With a large number of data records the import may take quite a long time – about one minute for 50 devices.

 

Partial import of single, up to now empty MDM columns

 

Select the data records to be completed in the view “Devices”.

Export to Excel (tab "Table attributes export”).

Add the missing entries to the file.

Import file (Ribbon Tab File / Administration / Excel Import) as decribed above.

 

Attention!

In the Excel import file the fields “Mdmld”, “Manufacturer” and “Order number” have to correspond to the data record existing in the MDM.
